Nurses Are Important To The Health Care Industry

July 22nd, 2010

Nurses are quite important to our health care industry. With out nurses the doctors would not have time to take care of all of the patients they have. If a doctor is dealing with a patient that is critical the nurse can take care of the patients that are stable. This gives the doctor time to handle the situation with the other patient with out having to rush to get to the next. Nurses have different duties depending on where they work.

Nurses that work in the emergency room have duties that primarily involve helping out the doctors with the sick patients. The nurse is usually the one that takes down all the medical information and history for the doctor to review before he sees the patient. Once the patient has been seen by the doctor the nurse is usually the one who gives them the medicine the doctor orders for them.

There are a lot of people that come into the emergency room every day and the doctor may not have time to give the medication to each patient. Patients can get their medication and be on their way much faster with a doctor helping them. Without a nurse helping the doctor the patient could be at the emergency room for a long time. No one wants to sit for hours at an emergency room when they are not feeling well.

Nurses that work in a doctors office usually have minimal duties to preform. The nurse may on occasion have to take a urine sample or draw blood. Most of the daily duties involve weighing patients, taking their temperature, and checking their blood pressure.

If you are thinking about becoming a nurse you are going to have to decide what kind of work would fit your personality best. Working at a private doctors office will mean you get to have a regular schedule from nine to five and have weekends off. Working in the emergency room will mean that your schedule will change from week to week and you may even have to work on weekends and holidays.

There are upsides as well as downsides to any working environment. Working in an emergency room means that you will get the chance to save lives. Working in a doctors office means you will not see many emergencies but you will have the chance to help keep the patients healthy.

A nurse that works in an emergency room has to deal with the fact that patients may die. Some people have a harder time dealing with death than others do. Nurses in a doctors office do not see many patients die like in the emergency room.

You know yourself better than anyone else does so you are the only person that can decide what working environment is best for you. If you think an emergency room is too much for you then you could try sending your resume out to all the local doctors offices. In the end it really wont matter where you work because you will still be helping others and doing a good thing.

July 17th, 2010

CNA Training programs are a critical element in assuring that people who enter this part of the health care field are successful. CNAs’ provide almost 80% of the one to one care that is received by individuals living in care facilities. As the population continues to age there is a greater need and they play an increasing vital role in the health of the elderly and chronically ill.

Each state has different requirements that must be met through CNA Training before they can take an exam to be certified. The training includes both an educational component and a clinical component.

Completion of a CNA program can occur in as little as a few weeks or take several months. Contacting the department that handles training in your state to get the requirements for becoming licensed is very important.

There are two phrases to the CNA Program that must be completed before an individual is allowed to take the certification examination.

The educational portion of the training will take place in a classroom setting. In some states the educational requirements are designed to take place in a very short time. In other states the educational portion of the training is set up so that a person receives college credits for some of the classes and these last through a college semester.

Clinical experience is gained through work at a facility. States differ on the number of clinical hours that an individual must work. The hours can range from a few weeks to a month to attain the required hours of clinical training. Some facilities pay a person who is working on their clinical hours and then hire them when they have passed the certification examination.

Once all requirements to take the examination have been met, the documentation with proof of completion are submitted to the State with an application to take the exam. The test that is given will consist of an educational component and a clinical component. This test is designed to assure that a person has the necessary knowledge and skills to do their job safely and effectively.

After a person has completed the training and passed the examination they can work anywhere in the state where they are certified. If they move to another state however they will need to complete a Request for Reciprocity.
